October Photo Challenge - 2025

Updated: 16 hours ago

For years I've done random photo challenges as a way to keep my creative spark alive! They force me outside of my normal realm and into something new and fun.

So, without further ado, here is October 2025. Please enjoy 🤗

October 1st - Cup of Coffee

Coffee is as simple as it gets for me. It's like a hug in a mug, if you will lol

Honestly though, there's nothing I enjoy more than snuggling up with my first cup of coffee; grabbing my bible, a good book, or turning on a tv show. Thus why I chose a self portrait for the cup of coffee theme. An artistic feature of a mug sitting somewhere perfectly placed in an aesthetic scene just didn't quite fit my personality.

October 2nd - Pattern

Ugh 😍 Being back behind the camera in a creative way like this has left my heart so happy! I wasn't feeling incredibly motivated this morning, especially by this theme, but as I grabbed my camera and headed outside inspiration hit me like a brick wall. The number of photos I took today for this challenge really proved that.

So below was my top pick. As I was heading inside to plug in my SD card to see the patterns on the tree stumps, our new roosters feathers, the wood grain on the deck, I happened to spot this little acorn that had fallen apart. In the midst of the green grass and browning leaves, laid this fun little pattern that stuck out to me.

October 3rd - Yellow

Sunflowers and sunshine, ribbons and rain boots, bananas and baby blankets - there's so many happy yellow things in life... but you, you are my yellow 💛

You are the sunshine to my rainy days. You are the warmth on my face like a sunny day. You are the blanket around me next to the fire in winter.

I'm so thankful for you and all the yellow you bring to my life.

October 4th - Candles

The challenge I probably dreaded the most, became my FAVORITE photo so far!! I'm thankful for my husband and kids who all pitched in ideas to take this photo from just a typical house candle to a lantern candle at the quarry.

Absolutely in love with this photo!!!

October 5th - Home Decor

So many of my photos are dark and moody so I thought I would go for light and airy this time! Honestly, none of our home decor seemed photo worthy, after all it's just a collection of things that we thought were neat.

However, the plants on the window seal caught my eye. They came from my sister's baby shower several months ago and most of them belong to my daughters, who are fascinated with stickers. (fun fact: my 12 year old has a bracelet business and sells stickers with them - https://www.facebook.com/prettyinpinkjewelry)

Anyways, what's that coin phrase? Kindness is free? Throw kindness like confetti? It takes courage to be kind? Whatever your preference, choose kindness today ❤️

October 6th - Comfiest Outfit

Your girl here is typically an eternal summer type of girl! You'll rarely hear me comment on it being too hot and if you do, just throw me in some water. After growing up on the lake, all I want is summer swims and tan lines!

But second best - is slipper season! I love when the weather is just beginning to cool down and the seasons are starting to change. I'll take life by a fire, if I can't have the lake.

So, if you need me, you'll find me with a cup of coffee and slippers on, reading my Bible by the window where I can still feel the remnants of the summer sun through the glass.

October 7th - Today's Weather

Every morning is a little darker on the way to the bus stop. The dreaded feeling that winter is coming sooner than I'd like. This morning, the world was wet with dew and misted with fog.

I couldn't decide between two pictures, so I'm posting both. As the sun rises and brings the promise of a new day, I hope your day is filled with warmth and joy. 🌇

October 8th - Favorite Place

My favorite place... definitely in this little corner section of our couch, Bible open, coffee in hand. It's my morning unwind time after the kids get on the bus and the chaos has subsided. It's my time to reset my brain and find ambition for the rest of the day. It's where the Lord meets me to take the fears and stressors from life and to impart peace on me to keep going.

But it's a double fav when the windows can be open; cool breeze blowing in, birds chirping, chickens crowing in the backyard, fresh air on my skin, and a bonus that the AC is not running. It's a reminder to ground myself and be present today. It's a breath of fresh air, literally.

October 9th - Apples

Two of my favorite boys heard about my photo challenge and begged to get in front of the camera! Honestly, our oldest boy is most of the reason I buy apples anyways so it seemed fitting.

75 photos later (literally)... I give you my apple theme photos! There were far too many cute ones to choose just one so enjoy my collage of our after dinner snacks this evening ☺️

October 10th - Something Orange

Today we carved pumpkins, and what's more orange than a pumpkin? Of all our kids, she was the only one who wanted to dig out the guts on the pumpkin so she helped me prep all 7 pumpkins before we carved.

October 11th - Lights

The intention was to take a walk after dark this evening to gather some inspiration for the lights theme. While waiting for dark, my husband was building a gate for our pool and the second I saw the light on the saw, I had all the inspiration I needed.

This photo was taken in broad daylight and altered with camera settings. Outside of a few small touch-ups, it wasn't digitally manipulated at all.

October 12th - Hat & Scarf

I can't quite get on board with hat & scarf season yet - but hoodie season, I am so ready for!! Honestly I'm kind of digging this shorts with a hoodie weather lately.

Since so much of my challenge photos were of our kids last weekend, I decided to go with a self portrait today; in my favorite hoodie, with one of my favorite memories from our honeymoon! 💛

October 13th - Candy

Oh the candy corn debate... you either love them or you hate them, so which one are you? Drop your vote below and then scroll down for my candy photo for today!

October 14th - Cozy Book

Welcome to my cozy reading nook - snuggled up on the couch with a candle, my coffee, and of course some candy corn. This entire book has been so eye opening to me. After all, who hasn't struggled with anxiety at some point in their life?

Written neatly, in large print, on page 12 it says "It is not God's will that you lead a life of perpetual anxiety. It is not his will that you face every day with dread and trepidation. He made you for more than a life of breath-stealing angst and mind-splitting worry. He has a new chapter for your life. And he is ready to write it."

So let it be a reminder to anyone struggling with the worry or anxiety today, that God has a bigger plan for you. Plans filled with peace and joy and wholeness.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. - John 14:27 (NIV)

October 15th - Sunset

There’s something sacred about golden hour — the way it turns everything it touches into a memory. A single butterfly, a single flower, a single pause before the day slips away.

ree

October 16th - Motion

Rainy days locked in the house is where it's at! Nowhere to go, nothing to do - just a warm sweater, windows open, and all the lights turned off. It's like a busy Mom's Heaven, listening to the rain drops hit the back porch.

October 17th - An Evening In

Mmm my escape from reality, my laughter in the storm, my sunshine on cloudy days. Thank you for being my world, my laughter, the love of my life! Our schedules are so busy sometimes that an evening in feels like paradise!

ree

October 18th - Baking

Who doesn't love road trip snacks?!?! Homemade Cholula cheez-its and banana bread came out of my oven today! 🤤 I'm thankful for these chilly days since my oven has been on all day.

ree

October 19th - Scenery

There is no better scenery than watching the waves rolling in, feeling the sand in your toes, and hearing little giggles in the air. Absolute paradise 🌴

ree

October 21st - Something Black

I pondered on this theme for days before finding this scene. The night of the 21st was the most gorgeous crescent mood mostly covered in fog but it was so cold outside (and if you know me, you know I despise the cold) so I didn't go out and photograph it.

For 2 days I regretted not going out to shoot that moon... and then a foggy evening happened again and I couldn't get out there fast enough. I still wish it was that gorgeous crescent moon but I'm happy with this one too.

ree

October 22nd - From Above

My sweet girl, sent from above, I love you so dearly! You are the star of every stage, with enough confidence to go around. Your personality is a beam of light in a dark room, always ready to make people smile. I am so thankful for your existence in our family and our lives. We're so much happier when you're here ❤️

ree

October 23rd - Leaves

Is anyone else LOVING autumn this year? The leaves has been so gorgeous and colorful.

ree

October 24th - Something Old

I frequently banter with my husband about him being old, which is ironic since I'm only 6 months behind him in age. If I'm honest though, one of my favorite physical features on my husband is his eye wrinkles. They only show when he's laughing really hard - thankfully this happens a lot at our house. It's a cute little sign that he's genuinely living in that moment and truly happy 💛

Every time I notice evidence of aging on him, I'm reminded that I have been gifted the honor of growing old with him. That every single day by his side is a blessing. Occasionally I will think back to the years before him where I prayed for someone just like him and I am reminded of how truly grateful I am for my blessed little life.
